Veterinary Surgeons

Hammad Sarwar
D.V.M, M.R.C.V.S Veterinary Surgeon and Practice Principal. Hammad qualified from the University of Agriculture Faisalabad in July 1995 and gained his MRCVS in 1999. Hammad joined the surgery in 2004 and then took over the practice when Mrs Shuttleworth retired in 2008. Hammad enjoys orthopaedic work. He is married with three children. |

Vincent Wager BVM&S, M.R.C.V.S
Vince qualified from Edinburgh University in 2001. He joined the practice in 2010. He has varied clinical interests including dermatology, ultrasonography, and internal medicine as well as getting involved in all aspects of surgery including orthopaedics.
Outside of work he enjoys mountain biking and has a keen interest in food and cooking. He is married to Rachel and they have three cats and a tortoise. |

Sophie Scott BVSc, M.R.C.V.S
Sophie qualified from the University of Bristol in 2008 and has worked predominantly in small animal practices since. We were thrilled when she joined the practice in January 2012. Sophie has a keen interest in dermatology cases and general surgery.
At home Sophie lives with her partner Joe and their young son Tom along with a Bengal cat called Duncan. In her free time Sophie enjoys catching up with family and friends. Her perfect night would include cooking, eating and drinking wine. |

Claire Ormerod- RVN and Practice Manager
Claire joined the practice in 1999 after completing a degree in Animal Science at the University of Nottingham. She attended Myerscough College and qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2002.
Claire splits her time between nursing and management duties, enjoying the mix of work each week.
Claire is married to John, with 2 daughters along with 2 dogs and 2 cats. Claire is a massive Labrador fan and in her eyes they can do no wrong. |

Janine Barlow -RVN and Head Nurse
Janine qualified in 1993 and has gained experience in various practices including mixed and emergency practices. Janine originally joined the practice in October 2000. She left for a short period of time to work at an emergency out of hours practice, and re-joined the practice team in 2007.
Janine has recently taken on the role of Clinical Coach at the practice and is working closely with the trainee nurses. Janine loves her theatre and anaesthesia work.
Away from the practice Janine and her partner love being outdoors, walking and agility with their dog. They particularly enjoy regular trips to remote areas of Scotland. Janine also enjoys riding and caring for her three horses. |

Rebecca Mazurkiewicz -Trainee RVN
Rebecca originally came to the practice to cover maternity leave. She joined us in a permanent role in September 2008. She is in the final few months of her nurse training at Chestergates Animal Hospital. Rebecca has a keen interest in cats and is involved in quite of lot work with unwanted kittens; she always finds a good home for them.
At home Rebecca’s time is kept very busy with her horse, dogs, cats and rabbits |

Karen Ormerod- Nursing Assistant
Karen re-joined the practice in 2008 after her children had grown up. Karen loves interacting with pets and is a firm favourite with our clients.
Karen lives with her husband and two children. Recent additions to the family include three cats and “Mocha the rabbit”. Mocha is quite famous throughout the valley because of all the school visits she has done. |

Gemma Gueller- Nursing Assistant
Gemma started out as a client at the practice and joined the nursing team in 2010. Gemma previously worked at another veterinary practice but stopped shortly after her son was born.
When Gemma is not at work she is kept very busy with her sons Shetland pony “Pedro”. |

Lauren Tattersall -Trainee RVN
Lauren joined the practice in Feb 2011 as a final year placement to complete her nursing degree. She lives in the valley with her mum and a houseful of cats.
After her placement finishes with us in February she will continue working with us to help cover holidays whilst she finishes her dissertation at college. |

Katherine Foster - RVN
Katherine AKA "kat" qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse from Myerscough College in 2007. Since then she has worked in various small animal practices. Kat joined the team in October 2011 and is enjoying working in a busy team, after being a solo nurse in a branch surgery. Kat has a keen interest in nurse clinics and is eager to develop this service for our clients over the next few months.
Kat owns 3 dogs and is a big staffie fan. |
Reception Team
We have a team of 9 receptionists, many of which have been at the practice for many years. As you can see there is a theme with horses for the majority of the reception team.
